What is Telerehabilitation?

What is Telerehabilitation?

Fort HealthCare is proud to announce the addition of Telerehabilitation services of PT, OT, AT and Speech Therapy.  Telerehabilitation provides an additional environment to receive therapy services from an expert in rehabilitation, for those who cannot travel, have time limitations or prefer not to come to a clinic.

What is needed?

  • A device to communicate; computer, tablet, or smartphone
  • Internet connection with at least 5-10 Mbps. *Please use Google Chrome, Firefox or Safari 11.*
  • A quiet open space that you can move freely within the camera’s view.

What to expect?

A one on one session with a skilled rehabilitation expert who will ask a series of questions regarding your primary concerns.  This will lead to a prioritized assessment of movement, limitations, and functional limitations.  Following assessment you will be guided via education, exercise and movement strategies to address your specific concerns/limitations.  In short everything you would normally get during an in clinic visit with the exception of hands on modalities.

 Who will benefit?

There are many diagnoses and conditions that may benefit from Telerehabilitation.  Research has shown Telerehabilitation can help individuals with a variety of diagnoses including, but not limited to; total knee arthroplasty, low back pain, stroke, multiple sclerosis, pelvic floor dysfunction and many more.  Telerehabilitation allows for assessment, treatment, progression and monitoring of a patient by a skilled rehab professional.
