TMJ is a commonly used acronym standing for TemporoMandibular Joint.  If a person experiences head or facial pain, clicking or locking of the jaw joint, they might be suffering from TMD or temporomandibular dysfunction.  Fort HealthCare has therapists who have taken a special interest in treating this joint for pain and dysfunction. There are specialized tests and observations which need to be made to assess the jaw as the source of their discomfort. We have at our disposal several methods to care for this joint and information to help manage or resolve a person’s jaw pain. Symptoms of TMD might include jaw joint noises, joint locking, joint pain, swelling, heat, ear pain, neck pain, headaches, tooth pain, facial muscle pain to name a few.
