Did you know that April is OT month ? Occupational therapists make up a big part of the rehab staff at Fort HealthCare and the OT’s are celebrating! The American Occupational Therapy Association ( AOTA) has declared April each year as OT month and they have defined what OT’s do as :
“Occupational therapy helps clients recover from major surgery, adapt to serious illness and perform daily tasks in their lives, and helps promote a healthier lifestyle to prevent illness or injury. It looks at the whole person- their physical, environmental, psychological, and social needs- and helps them to function at the highest possible level, build independence, participate in everyday activities that make life worth living”
At Fort Healthcare we have OT’s and COTA’s working at the hospital, wound and edema center, Therapy and Sport Centers at Fort, Lake Mills and Whitewater, and the Fort public schools. At the outpatient clinics we have OT’s that specialize in ergonomic assessments and job site analysis, work hardening, pediatric OT, lymphedema therapy, certified hand therapy, and stroke rehab.
